The CANNONDALE PB FORTIUS team was well represented at the 2018 Junior National Track Championships, April 13-15 at the Mattamy National Cycling Centre in Milton Ontario. With every team rider medaling and 3 national champion jerseys to their credit, team riders helped BC to their best medal count to date claiming 14 national titles and 28 national medals.

Ethan Ogrodniczuk had break-through bunch racing and sprint performances bringing home gold in the Points, Scratch (Pickrell/Ogrodniczuck) and Team Sprint (Davies/Pickrell/Ogrodniczuck), silver in the Kieren and Kilo, and bronze in the Individual/Match Sprint and Team Pursuit.

Maia Matson, first time nationals U17 team rider who shattered her personal best in the individual pursuit had this to say about the experience: “It was overwhelming at first, and I was definitely super nervous going into track nationals. However, I soon realized that it's just racing bikes, and I was able to move past being nervous. I had a fun time racing with my friends and teammates, and finished the event knowing that I had done my best.”

“The atmosphere was amazing. Everybody on the team was riding so well and the energy in the pits after each race was incredible!” added Quinn Storey, a first-year Junior member of the Team. Storey continued, “I learnt that just because you’re not getting the results you were hoping for doesn't mean you can't enjoy the atmosphere and have some fun!”

The experience should pay dividends for all those involved both on and off the track. Thank you to all sponsors, coaches, parents and supporters who help make these experiences available for our youth athletes.
