Duration: Annual contract
Compensation: $750 - $1250 monthly depending on responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities

Escape Velocity is looking for an enthusiastic cycling coach and coordinator for our adult programs. The successful candidate shall:

  • Oversee the curriculum of the Escape Velocity Learn to Race and Learn to Ride programs
  • Promote, manage and deliver Learn to Race clinics that will coincide with EV Spring Series road races and World Tuesday Night Championship criterium races.
  • Develop, coordinate and support club rides in partnership with the ride committee.
  • Deliver clinics on training theory, planning and execution to EV members.
  • Act as an ambassador for Escape Velocity and aid in the recruitment of new members.
  • Implement a club member on-boarding process to direct Learn to Race participants to Escape Velocity.
  • Support ride leader development.
  • Work with the ride committee to develop a ride program that provides a progression that allows riders to develop the necessary skills and fitness to ride and/or race with Escape Velocity.
  • Present new clinic and workshop opportunities to club leadership for implementation.
  • Inspire and motivate adult club members through your positive communication and actions.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in all road racing disciplines (road, criterium, time trial) and cyclocross.
  • Experience teaching appropriate skills in a safe and progressive manner.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Member in good standing at Via Sport.
  • Current CPR and First Aid Certifications

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • NCCP community coach certified
  • Experience working with Microsoft office software (Word, Excel, and Outlook) along with TrainingPeaks, Strava, Garmin Connect etc.

About Escape Velocity:

ESCAPE VELOCITY CYCLING CLUB (EV), is a non-profit society duly incorporated under the laws of the Province of British Columbia focused on the promotion and delivery of bike races in Greater Vancouver and the development of youth and adult cycling racing enthusiasts. Escape Velocity consists of approximately 150 members spread across three teams: Escape Velocity (Adults/Masters), the DEVO youth program (U13/U15), and the Cannondale race team (U17/U19). Annually we run over 30 races including the Spring Classic Series in the Fraser Valley, the World Tuesday Night Championship series, the Seymour Challenge, DEVO Stage Race, and Brian Jessel BMW Last Tuesday Nighter. EV has won the multiple Cycling BC awards in the past decade including: club of the year, youth club of the year, race organizer of the year, and our members have received volunteer of the year.
